In Singapore’s building projects, the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) services are usually installed in the last stage of building construction works. Thus, MEP installation faces tremendous pressure to complete the job within a very tight timeframe. To overcome such challenge, prior to installation and connections on-site, MEP services can actually be prefabricated and integrated in modules off-site.
In developed economies such as Japan, Korea, United Kingdom, and fast-developing Middle East region, many building projects have already adopted prefabricated modular MEP system and have achieved significant benefits in project delivery – reduced downtime and manpower needed on-site; improved quality of MEP works; and created a safer and more conducive environment for MEP trade workers.
The programme will be conducted through interactive discussions on case studies, facilitated by experienced local and overseas industry professionals. At the end of the programme, participants will be able to understand the prefabricated modular MEP system’s design considerations, collaboration framework, fabrication of prefab MEP modules, coordination on site, benefits of the system, and how to implement the system effectively.

Building and Construction Authority
Ramamoorthy oversees BCA’s initiatives to raise construction productivity through implementing Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) technologies. He also leads the taskforces of prefabricated MEP systems and Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC). Prior to joining BCA, he had worked in private sector firms including Woh Hup & Dragages.
Mr. Harry Woon, Senior Lecturer, School of Building & Development, BCA Academy
Harry started his career at PWD (now defunct) as a mechanical engineer before moving to CPG Facilities Management, Paul Y Engineering (HK) and Hisaka Holdings. Prior to joining BCA Academy, he had more than 20 years of work related experiences in engineering as well as facilities management.
Mr. Rejil Kumar, General Manager, Weathermaker Limited, UAE
Rejil is PMP certified and has extensive experience in MEP industry across Middle East - led several industry initiatives on seeding prefabricated MEP module concept; executed large scale process improvements in MEP for construction industry; developed and implemented labour productivity improvement initiatives, material/cost optimisation and related process improvements. Rejil also plays an active role as team leader to assess UAE based organisations who apply to Dubai Quality Awards (a Dubai government Initiative). Rejil holds an engineering degree from MNIT Jaipur, India and a postgraduate degree in management from Symbiosis, Pune, India.
