Technical Design of Mass Engineered Timber Structures Using Eurocode 5

As part of the effort to improve construction productivity, BCA strongly encourages the
adoption of Mass Engineered Timber (MET) in Singapore. There is a need to train the
industry to be familiar and confident in designing of MET structures using Eurocode 5(EC5). This workshop will cover the various design considerations and requirements under EC5 and also enables the participants to apply EC 5 in the technical design of MET.

Mr Karthik Ganesan
Senior Structural Engineer, Aurecon Australia
Karthik Ganesan is a Civil Engineering graduate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and
State University, USA and has more than 7 years’ experience in the design and detailing of buildings and bridges. He was the Senior Structural Engineer of Aurecon Singapore before being posted to Aurecon Australia. He specializes in the design of high rise buildings, timber structures and long span structures. He is currently responsible for the concept & detailed design of the proposed Mass Engineered Timber (MET) building of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Academic Building South.

Mr Rickesh Limbachiya
Technical Manager, Steeltech Industries Pte Ltd
Rickesh Limbachiya graduated from University of Surrey with his Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering. He has many years of experience in technical design and managing complex infrastructure projects in India and United Kingdom. He currently is Technical Manager of Steeltech Industries Pte Ltd Singapore. He is also technical committee in the BCA MET guidebook.
