World’s First High-Rise Rotatable Laboratory for the Tropics
The BCA SkyLab is developed by BCA in collaboration with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, a world leader in science and engineering and building energy performance research. The facility boasts a 360-degree rotatable capability, full plug-and-play configurability and is fitted with extensive instrumentation and sensor networks scalable in future. The 132 m2 facility is equipped with a network of more than 200 sensors with high accuracy and granularity, across two identical cells for comparison testing. These sensors measure performance metrics such as energy performance, indoor environmental quality, outdoor environmental parameters and building automation system indicators.

BCA SkyLab is an advanced test facility for industry professionals, researchers, and innovators to testbed their building technologies to achieve greater energy savings and higher performance. This state-of-the-art testbed facility is capable of testing energy-efficient technologies in Photovoltaics (roof top, BIPV, BAPV), façades, air-conditioning, lightings and controls. Sitting on top of a 7-storey building at Braddell Road, SkyLab has a 360-degree rotatable platform which allows technologies to be tested under real-world conditions at different building orientations.
The 132 m2 facility has over 200 laboratory grade sensors with high accuracy and granularity for comparison testing across two identical test chambers. These sensors measure performance metrics such as energy performance, indoor environmental quality, outdoor environmental parameters, etc.
