Overview
To accelerate the decarbonisation efforts in lowering the carbon footprint of building developments and infrastructures, it is essential to identify the carbon emissions associated with the materials and resources used during the construction and operation stages. Organisations can then perform life cycle assessment (LCA) through carbon computation and put together a carbon management strategy plan, to reduce the associated environmental impact.
Objectives
This course aims to equip industry practitioners with knowledge on carbon computation to make informed decisions on the selection of carbon-efficient products/ technologies and management strategies during building design, construction and operational phases. At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Apply BCA GM: 2021 requirements, prevailing standards/ framework wherever applicable, to evaluate contributing factors of both embodied and operational carbon.
- Perform computation of both embodied and operational carbon of a building; and
- Analyse results and determine carbon management strategies to lower the overall carbon emission of a building.
