About the Course

Overview

As Singapore continues developing, there will be an increase in the number of lifts and escalators. This will lead to an increase in annual testing and checking of the lifts and escalators.

The Lift and Escalator Inspector Course is designed to provide participants with essential knowledge in lift and escalator inspection. Upon completion, participants will have the knowledge to inspect lift and escalator installations and maintenance in accordance with current standards.

Course Outline

The course is conducted over 4 days comprising 1-day of theory session (Module A) and 3-days of practical session (Module B). Participants are required to sit for an end-of-course assessment (for Module A).

Module A - Theory

  • Regulatory Framework
  • Functions of the Mechanical and Electrical components
  • Fire Lift and Emergency Operation
  • Maintenance Outcome
  • Case Studies

Module B - Practical

  • Periodic maintenance and examination Inspection
  • Precaution check and preparation for testing
  • Inspection and testing method
  • Record and interpret results, conduct post-test
  • Inspection and rectification before resumption of operation

Trainer / Lecturer

ER LAI YUN TAI is the Director of P&T Engineer Services and is responsible for overall planning, operation, and maintenance of lifts and escalators. Er Lai is a registered Professional Engineer (Electrical) in Singapore and a Specialist Professional Engineer in Lift and Escalator registered with PEB, Singapore.

Who Should Attend
  • Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Electrical discipline
  • Technical professionals in the lift and escalator industry seeking registration as Lift and Escalator Inspector or aiming to enhance their knowledge in lift and escalator.
Assessment & Award

MCQ Online Assessment
Participants are required to complete the MCQ online assessment by 23 September 2024, 2359hrs.

An e-Certificate of Successful Completion (e-CSC) will be issued to participants who:

  • Achieve at least 75% class attendance; and•
  • Pass MCQ assessment.
Entry Requirement

Participants seeking registration as Lift & Escalator Inspectors must meet the entry requirements for Lift & Escalator Inspector accreditation under the IES/ACES Registry. Subsequently, they are required to sit for a registration examination set by JAC upon successful completion of the course.

Participant must achieve at least 75% attendance and pass all assessments. BCA Academy reserves the right to recover the funded amount from the participant (self-sponsored) or employer (company sponsored) if participant did not meet the eligibility criteria.
