About the Course

Overview

Tower Cranes are often used on construction sites to improve productivity in high-rise construction work. In heavily built-up areas where there is site constraint, it might be necessary to use a Luffing Jib Tower Crane instead of a normal "hammer-head" Tower Crane.

The Luffing Jib Tower Crane includes several additional operational features. Existing tower crane operators need to be trained to operate the Luffing Jib Tower Crane safely and efficiently.

Existing tower crane operators who wish to operate a Luffing Jib Tower Crane should attend this course.

Conducted on a regular monthly basis. (Confirmation of training place is on a first-come, first-served basis.)

Note: Trainees are advised to spend approximately 1 day on pre-reading materials and quizzes online before attending the lesson and assessment.

Assessment & Award

Participants who have attended at least 75% of the classroom training sessions, attempted all online pre-reading materials & quizzes, and passed the course assessment at the end of the lesson will be issued with the Certificate of Successful Completion (CSC).

Entry Requirement

At least 21 years of age.
Must hold valid crawler crane and saddle jib tower crane licenses.
Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents; or
Sponsoring company of construction work pass holders, who wish to apply for this course, must submit an endorsed copy of Form C under the “Temporary relaxation scheme” and be subjected to its prevailing terms and conditions. Sponsoring company of construction work pass holders, who are existing crane & hoist operators and wish to cross train in other cranes, need not submit a copy of endorsed Form C under the “Temporary relaxation scheme”; or
Work permit holders from other industries (except construction) who are working as crane & hoist operators may also apply for this course, subject to availability.

MOM’s requirements for applying to be a registered Crane Operator

To apply, you need to meet the following requirements:

Be at least 21 years old.
Hold valid crawler crane and saddle jib tower crane licences.
Participants who have passed the theory course will be issued a certificate “Certificate of Successful Completion (CSC). You must submit your luffing jib tower crane operator application within 6 months from date of issuance of your issued CSC.
If you are aged 50 years or above, you must pass the medical examination before you can apply.
Occupation on the work pass card must be stated as “Crane and Hoist Operator (excluding port)” for an applicant holding a work permit or S-Pass in the construction sector, all other occupations are not accepted.
