About the Course

Overview

The eligibility for registration of crane operators has always been based on skill and competency. The list of refresher courses below are for the registration where the crane license has expired more than 3 years but less than 5 years.

Course Outline

The 3.5 -day refresher courses comprise theory lesson, hands-on practical session and assessment.

The topics to be covered are as follows:

Safety requirements and operation for various types of cranes
Principles and characteristics of mobile/tower crane
Interpreting load capacity chart
Field exercises

Assessment & Award

Participants must attend at least 75% of the training session to be eligible to take the written and practical assessment. Those who successfully pass the course assessment will be awarded the Certificate of Successful Completion.

Entry Requirement

Singapore citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents - Foreigners (Employment Pass, S-Pass, Traditional Source/North Asia Source work permit holders) must attach a copy of Application for Temporary Relaxation of License Registration for Foreign Cane Operators (Form C) approved by BCA when applying for Refresher course.
SVP Holders (Traditional Source/North Asia Source) must attach a copy of Application for Temporary Relaxation of License Registration for Foreign Cane Operators (Form C) approved by BCA when applying for Refresher course. - Have successfully completed the Crane Operation (Mobile, Crawler & Tower) course by MOM’s Approved Training Providers and crane license have expired for more 3 years but less than 5 years.
For Mobile Crane Operation
- Must possess a class 4 (provisional/qualified) driving license (PDL/QDL) or class 5 driving license or equivalent.
- Participants without class 5 driving license can only collect their certificate after they have obtained their class 5 driving license. They must do so within one (1) year after successfully completing their course. Applicant must submit a photocopy of the crane license (if applicable) and relevant certificate at time of application.

Participant must achieve at least 75% attendance and pass all assessments. BCA Academy reserves the right to recover the funded amount from the participant (self-sponsored) or employer (company sponsored) if participant did not meet the eligibility criteria. Details of SSG’s funding can be found on Home (skillsfuture.gov.sg).
